Pilgrims Hospice Society owes much of who we are today to Marion Boyd. As one of our founding board members and Board Member Emeritus, Marion helped turn a shared vision of compassionate end-of-life care into a lasting reality. Her unwavering commitment to making end of life a better experience for all shaped our organization, strengthened our place in the community and continues to inspire the work we do.
Alongside two like-minded individuals, Marion helped establish Pilgrims and remained a passionate advocate for better end-of-life care and grief support throughout her 32 years of involvement. She helped grow our community programs, strengthen our fund development efforts and build our reputation as a good neighbour, while never wavering in her vision for excellence in residential hospice care. Pilgrims’ Roozen Family Hospice Centre and the many programs and services we provide are part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
Marion generously shared her time, talents and resources. Fiercely loyal, quick-witted and deeply committed to our purpose, she took great pride in the work of Pilgrims’ staff and volunteers and the difference they make in our community.
Marion’s death is a profound loss for Pilgrims, as well as for her family, friends and the many people whose lives she touched. We hold all who are grieving in our thoughts and extend our heartfelt condolences.
