Volunteering is Empathy in Action

Volunteer Appreciation Week runs this week from April 24th to the 30th. This year’s theme is “Volunteering is Empathy in Action”.

As we celebrate over 100 active volunteers at Pilgrims Hospice Society, its important to recognize the value that they each bring to our organization. Volunteers provide so much more than meets the eye!

Volunteers enable nonprofit societies such as Pilgrims Hospice to deliver vital programs and services. They lend their expertise most often in direct customer service roles to serve our families clients and residents. Volunteers also make up our Board of Directors to provide the organization with leadership and direction.

Volunteers hold a diverse range of skills, experience, and knowledge. Our volunteers bring with them a wealth of education and proficiencies from all walks of life and backgrounds. This enables us to offer exceptional programming in all areas of support whether financial, emotional, spiritual, recreational, or administrative. All are integral to the operations of our organization.

Raising awareness about our organization in our communities is also a value that volunteers carry. They share with the public our cause, profile and our work which furthers relationships within the community in addition to supporting others.

No matter where the volunteer chooses to spend their time, the service given and the compassionate care shared is immeasurable. Pilgrims Hospice is a place of love, compassion, caring and excellence and we owe much of this recognition to our fantastic group of volunteers who continue to put empathy into action.
