“A community of compassion extends far beyond the walls of our building. It starts with our community – our staff, volunteers, clients and donors – … and grows outside of Pilgrims Hospice in the form of partnerships within our community,”

~ Monica Robson, Executive Director, Pilgrims Hospice

A Community of Compassion gathered at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald on September 22 for the 15th Annual Dr. Helen Hays Sunflower Luncheon. We heard from Shelley Vetesse-Baert about the importance of such community partnerships for schools:

“The death of a loved one, a friend, a colleague or student can have a ripple effect throughout the school and the community. Unresolved grief can leave students with negative behaviors, depression, anxiety, substance abuse and other mental health concerns. Ultimately it impacts the whole school environment, it affects the learning and well-being of everyone. Having the expertise of the Pilgrims Hospice staff and the specialty care they offer is of absolute benefit to the well-being of our students”

Proceeds from the Sunflower Luncheon directly support the emotional, social, and spiritual care of individuals and their families facing end of life. Thank you all for taking part in building a community of compassion.

Please continue to work with us to ensure more in our community are aware of Pilgrims Hospice and tell others. Learn more about our Face to Face Campaign.
