RESPITE SERVICES

Hospice Home Visiting Program

If you have ever helped someone cope with the day-to-day reality that comes with a palliative diagnosis, you know that love is simply not enough. Without outside support, families are often overwhelmed and uncertain how to access support.

The trained volunteers of the Hospice Home Visiting Program are carefully matched after  a meeting assessment at your home with Pilgrims Hospice Community Program Manager. Once matched, Home Visiting volunteers can help with:

  • Emotional, social and spiritual support
  • Respite care for family and loved ones
  • Practical assistance (light meal prep and home making)
  • Life review & legacy work
  • End-of-life vigil

Home Visiting volunteers are trained through the nationally recognized Canadian Hospice and Palliative Care Volunteer Training. Volunteers are carefully matched with each client, have recently undergone a Vulnerable Sector Search, and  stay in close contact with the Program Manager to ensure quality and continuity of care for each client.

Thanks to donor support, there is no fee for this service.

We see their smiles, listen to their stories, cry with them. laugh with them. Just BE with them and honour the human connection, the shared humanity – right to the end, because they matter.
